The Israel Defense Forces temporarily closed parts of the northern Golan Heights to civilians on Monday due to “spillover” from the raging civil war across the border in Syria.

Israeli farmers are still permitted to work their fields in the area, but are being warned not to approach the border fence, for their own safety.

A number of “observation points” for tourists in the area of Quneitra, who come to the region for cherry picking at this time of year, were marked off as “closed military zones” after three attacks from the Syrian side of the border in as many days.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said in statement that although Israel will continue to retaliate for every individual attack, be it on the northern or southern front, the Jewish State has no intention of being drawn into another war.

“We have no intention of initiating any military maneuvers in the north or the south,” Liberman said.
