In this past week’s Parsha in Israel (this coming Shabbat in Galus) we read about the Mitzvah of Tzizit – ritual fringes.

  1. “Uritem oto” (Numbers 15:38) “And you shall see it” – it – not them – singular, refers to the techelet (blue) fringe which is wrapped around the fringes. This is the physical reminder. The use of the accompanying photo of white fringes without techelet represents a perpetuation of a nebechdikah galuth menatality that ignores the Torah’s commandment as well as reality. Hundreds of thousands in Israel wear techelet today, either Radzin’s or the Amutah’s versions. If you’re going to teach Torah at least be real about it.
