Rafah Crossing closed again

The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt is to remain closed following the withdrawal by Palestinian Authority personnel on Sunday from the facility, Egyptian officials said Monday.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Interior Ministry told reporters that notification was received from Egypt that the crossing will now only be open to those entering Gaza from Egypt.

The Palestinian Authority received control over the Rafah crossing as part of its 2017 so-called “reconciliation” deal for a “unity government” with Hamas, but the unification never came to pass and eventually, the “reconciliation” broke down as well.
