Gaza terrorists fired a single rocket at the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon on Wednesday evening.
The rocket, which was fired from northern Gaza, was intercepted by the Iron Dome aerial defense system.
“Following the sirens that sounded in the Lakhish area, one projectile that was identified crossing into Israel from the northern Gaza Strip was intercepted by the IAF,” the IDF confirmed. “No injuries were reported.”
Red Alert sirens sent residents in the city racing for safe spaces at around 7:20 pm.
Less than an hour later, IDF Arabic language Spokesperson Avichay Adraee delivered an “urgent” evacuation warning to residents in the area from which the rocket was fired. The alert was also posted to the X social media platform.

Israeli forces are continuing intensive operations in northern Gaza as part of the Gideon’s Chariots offensive aimed at returning the remaining 58 hostages and ending the Hamas terrorist reign.
Three days ago (May 18), two rockets were fired from Gaza at Kissufim. One of the projectiles was intercepted by the IDF Aerial Array; the second rocket landed in an open area. No injuries were reported.
At the time, the IDF issued an evacuation notice for the area from which the rockets were fired, immediately declaring it a closed combat zone. Intensified strikes followed shortly after.
