US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by telephone on Thursday (July 11) with U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing his appreciation for Trump’s intention to increase sanctions on Iran. The two discussed regional developments and security issues especially Iran. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu and Trump discussed “regional developments and security issues, especially Iran.”

“The two leaders discussed cooperation between the United States and Israel in advancing shared national security interests, including efforts to prevent Iran’s malign actions in the region,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement on Thursday.
