Israeli forces have assassinated a “significant” Hezbollah terrorist in the area of Tyre, in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF, Hussein Nazih Barja was a “significant” source of knowledge in the field of weapons production in Lebanon.
Barja worked in Hezbollah’s Research, Development and Production Directorate, which is responsible for the production and maintenance of weapons and works to increase the terrorist organization’s ability to supply arms to its operatives.
“Since its establishment, it has managed many projects for the production of weapons in the area, including the production of precise missiles,” the IDF explained.
“Hussein Nazih Barja is an engineer with extensive experience in the unit, responsible for establishing the necessary infrastructure for production of precise surface-to-surface missiles in the area.”
Barja’s elimination was intended to damage Hezbollah’s re-establishment efforts following its latest war with Israel.
“His actions constituted a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said. “The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat posed to the State of Israel.”
Also on Wednesday, the IDF struck and eliminated a commander in Hezbollah’s ‘Radwan’ forces near the southern Lebanese village of Yater.
