Four people were killed and 12 were injured in a bus crash on Route 40, close to Ben Gurion International Airport. Lod, Dec 22, 2019.

Four people are dead and more than a dozen others were injured after a Number 947 Egged bus traveling from Jerusalem to Haifa collided with a bus stop near the Bedek Junction on Route 40 near Yehud.

A concrete pillar at the bus stop crashed on to the bus, seriously injuring two women, ages 19 and 67. At least 12 others were hurt as well, although less severely.

Two men and two women lost their lives in the tragedy, and were pronounced dead at the scene after their bodies were recovered from the bus by the firefighters.

The victims were evacuated to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer Hospital in Ramat Gan, HaSharon Medical Center in Petah Tikva, and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Tzrifin.

Israel Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
