US Secretary Mike Pompeo expressed the Trump administration’s support for Israel’s right to self-defense on Sunday in response to threats posed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Pompeo spoke with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the day about the recent IAF air strikes in Syria against Iranian military targets across from Israel’s northern border.

Netanyahu told Pomeo that Israel would strike IRGC targets threatening Israel, according to a statement issued by State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus.

“The Secretary and the Prime Minister discussed how Iran is leveraging its foothold in Syria to threaten Israel and its neighbors,” Ortagus said. “The Prime Minister noted that Israel would strike IRGC targets threatening Israel, wherever they are located.”
