The Algerian Criminal Court of Ghardaia has sentenced to death a Liberian national of Lebanese origin accused of collaborating with Israel, according to A-Sharq Al-Awsat.

The accused was convicted on charges of “espionage for the benefit of a foreign force (Israel) and for forming a criminal group … that aims to infringe on Algeria’s security and threaten it.”

In addition to the suspect, identified in an official statement by the Algeria Press Service on Tuesday as A.D.F., six African nationals were also charged in relation to the case. Each was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $10,000.
