Multiple Arab media have reported that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps commander in Syria, Brigadier General Hajj Amir Ali was killed Sunday night in an air strike on Damascus.

At least three foreign fighters were reported killed in the air strikes – “most likely Iranians” – according to Arab media reports, including the Saudi Gazette. One of the targets was located in an area on the road to Damascus International Airport, according to the reports.

Four cruise missiles were believed to have been launched across the coast through Lebanese airspace toward Syria, a source in the regional alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told Reuters. Syrian forces said they intercepted and brought down one missile.

Syria Reports Israeli Attack on Weapons Storage Facilities near Damascus

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported overnight that there were at least three explosions in Damascus and its suburbs, with suspected Israeli missiles aimed at targets belonging to the Syrian regime and Iranian militias.

According to an Al-Masdar News source, it is believed the missiles were launched from both the Golan Heights and Lebanon’s Mount Hermon (Jabal Al-Sheikh) region.

Local Damascus reports said one missile allegedly hit the Aqraba suburb 50 kilometers southeast of Damascus, where Hezbollah has been previously targeted by the IDF, Indus News reported, quoting Syrian state media.

The Hezbollah-linked Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar previously reported there were no fatalities resulting from the attack; and only damage to the targeted facilities, which included a number of military ammunition warehouses in southern Damascus.

However, multiple Arab media, including a correspondent for the Amman-based Al Hadath newspaper, reported that the bombing appeared to be aimed at assassinating the senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps official.

When contacted by the AFP news agency, the IDF said Israel “does not comment on reports in foreign media.”
