Crown Heights resident Jack Blachman didn’t think twice when he saw two young Jewish girls being verbally harassed Wednesday afternoon by a burly Hispanic man in the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Speaking exclusively to JewishPress.com on Thursday, Blachman said he heard the screaming when he walked out of nearby building. “Then I saw two Jewish girls walking away frantically, down the block towards Kingston (Avenue), turning their heads back and looking towards the guy. So I asked him, ‘What’s the problem and told him to leave the girls alone.

“When he started to come at me instead, I put the video on.”

Blachman said the attacker immediately escalated his behavior once he was dealing with someone his own size, cursing and screaming.

“Jews are all the same,” he said. “Your f—-ing cult, you Jewish people. You invented the cult.”

Then he spat in Blachman’s face.

“Once he spat at me I called police,” Blachman said, “and then I followed him till they came.” The officers showed up right away, he said, but when he showed them the video, they told him there was nothing they could do, except take a report for “harassment.”

“It’s not their fault,” Blachman said. “They were great, they were professional. A lot of people in this neighborhood get spit on but the cops can’t do anything about it, as long as there was no physical contact, as long as no one got hurt.”

Many Jews in the neighborhood are becoming disgusted with the situation, he added.

“It’s on us to do something. You have to stand up,” he said. “People have to stop and say something and take videos so that our political leaders will know what’s going on and finally change the laws. That’s the only way they’ll be able to untie the cops’ hands and allow them to put an end to this.”
