Energy companies BP and ENI on Friday announced a significant gas discovery off the coast of Egypt, in the eastern delta of the Nile. According to ENI, “The new discovery affirms the estimates of potential gas reserves in the region as being at between 70-80 billion cubic meters.” Twelve gas reserves worth $33 billion are currently being developed in Egypt, including the Zohar field discovered last year, which is expected to supply 130 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
