Rabbi Mordechai Hager, shlita, the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey was taken Sunday evening (EDT) to Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, where he is undergoing medical tests.

The Rebbe, 94, had reportedly not been feeling well for the past several days. By Sunday evening he was said to be in intense pain. The Rebbe is the elder of today’s Chassidic leaders.

The Rebbe is said to learn Torah 18 hours a day and asks his followers to study at least two hours a day as well. Thousands around the world are followers of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe.

The public is asked to pray for Mordechai ben Margulia.
