Israel Defense Forces demolished 23 buildings containing terrorist infrastructure in the Palestinian Authority terrorist hotbed city, Jenin. Sunday’s destruction (Feb. 2) came as part of the counterterrorism effort to eliminate terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.

“The IDF and Shin Bet (ISA) have scanned hundreds of structures in the area of Jenin. During the scans, explosives laboratories, weapons, observation posts, and additional terrorist infrastructure were located,” the IDF said in a statement Sunday evening.

Two armed terrorist cells in Jenin were struck on Saturday by an IAF aircraft as well.

In the city of Qabatiya, an IAF aircraft under the guidance of Shin Bet intelligence agents struck and eliminated a terrorist cell on its way to carry out an imminent terrorist attack. After the strike, secondary explosions were spotted, resulting from explosives that were inside the vehicle.

The terrorist Saleh Zakarneh and the terrorist Abed al-Hadi Kamil, from Qabatiya — previously detained for planning terrorist activities but was released as part of the ceasefire agreement on November 2023 — were eliminated in the strike.

The IDF, Shin Bet (ISA) and Israel Border Police are continuing their counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, which expanded Sunday morning from Tulkarem to the area of Tamun.

Since the start of the counterterrorism Operation Iron Wall on January 21, the forces have eliminated more than 35 terrorists and arrested more than 100 wanted suspects. In an advance operation, more than 15 additional terrorists were eliminated in aerial strikes.

During the operation, the forces located and confiscated dozens of weapons, destroyed hundreds of explosive devices and neutralized dozens of additional explosives that had been planted along routes to target Israeli forces.

At least 40 weapons have been seized and more than 80 IEDs (improvised explosive devices) have been neutralized during the operation thus far.

The counterterrorism offensive is expected to continue for several more weeks.
