An Israeli border policeman, 38, was wounded in a terror attack in the Old City of Jerusalem, on Thursday, just before noon.

The police spokesman says the policeman was shot in the arm by a terrorist. According to medical personnel, the policeman was conscious and lightly wounded when he was evacuated to Sharei Tzedek Medical Center.

The terrorist was shot and killed by other policemen at the scene.

The terrorist has been identified as an Israeli-Arab resident of Haifa.

The attack happened near the Lion’s Gate, next to the Temple Mount.

Police have shut down the Temple Mount as Arabs began rioting following the attack.
