Haredi leaders who’ve been spending so much time and energy to prevent Haredi youth from being drafted into the IDF now have a new hole to plug: a report in Kikar Hashabbat suggests that dozens of Haredi seminary students are seduced by Arab men. One of several organizations in Israel combating the problem is Lehava (Hebrew acronym: to prevent assimilation in the Holy Land), one of whose activists, M (full name not published for his safety), 42, shared his experiences with the website.

Also known in the Haredi community as “the magician,” M’s conversation is cut off repeatedly by emergency calls. “I was just speaking to a Jewish man from a famous Haredi family in Jerusalem, and he has a connection with a gentile woman. A friend of his talked to me and just now we took care of it. We let him understand, in an indirect way, that he had to end the relationship. He thanked me and said he’ll start treatment.”

The Lehava website reports about a female soldiers who left a message of protest on the organization’s Facebook page: “Why are you telling me whom I should be going out with?” she wrote. “I’ve been in relationships with Arabs for 6 years and never been hurt by them. They are 1000 times more honorable than Jews.”

The reaction, from the Facebook readers, was massive, with readers treating the woman with love and respect. “You deserve so much more,” wrote one of them. “There are plenty of good men over on our side,” wrote another. Eventually, after having watched some of the cautionary tale videos on the Lehava website, the solder left a message saying she was now going out with Jewish guys.

Lubavitch emissaries in Israel are reporting their own struggle against this unexpected form of assimilation. There are also reports of girls as young as 12 dating Arab men. Arab bus drivers appear to be Jewish chick magnets.

According to Lehava, an estimated 50,000 Jewish women are living in Arab villages and towns in Israel.

“You Are the King’s Daughter,” sung by Eliran D, a campaign Rap song warning against falling in love with Arabs, who start out with romantic solicitation, until their target falls prey and is turned into a slave as a Muslim wife:

M describes his complicated caseload over a short period of time: “In less than two months we’ve taken care of 23 cases of Haredi girls who work in Jerusalem stores. They all come from good families with no economic problems, with warmth and love. but being in close contact with an Arab boss or Arab clients eight hours a day, every day, how can she helps straying?”

He continues: “I got this case last Thursday. Two sisters working in the same supermarket in Jerusalem, involved with two Arabs. In Tsfat, three sisters, ages 15, 16 and a half, and 19, from a Haredi family, each in an intimate contact with an Arab and the parents know nothing about it. They were working with stores where Arabs lived nearby, and that’s how they ‘fell.’”

No place seems to be so sheltered as to protect Haredi girls from temptation. Even in the Haredi town of Elad, according to M, there have been several incidences of girls who hooked up with Arab construction workers.

“In that town there ahs been more than one such case,” he relates the full story. “last summer I rescued two sisters who had become acquainted with two Arabs working at a construction site near their home. One day they come back from the seminary, those Arabs flirted with them and they were seduced into a relationship. Today they’re back, studying at the same Haredi seminary in Jerusalem.”

Another case: “About a month and a half ago, I ran into a story with a married Haredi woman, member of a distinguished Chassidic court in Jerusalem, who was about to move in with an Arab in the Beit Chanina neighborhood. Miraculously, I reached her, picked her up in my car, and in half an hour she was back with her husband. I managed to convince her.”

And another: “A month ago, there was a wedding in the town of Modi’in Illit, where the bride had been in a relationship with an Arab before, and after we took care of her, in an indirect way, she got out of it and, like I said, was marrying a God fearing Jew.”

After these women are helped out of their mixed relationships, they receive help in returning to the life they had fled. There are professionals in the Haredi community who offer them psychological help.

“As far as memory serves,” M says, “I’ve dealt with more than 900 girls who became entangled with Arab and Druze men, and 250 of them have come back.”

    really? that seems very exaggerated

  2. poor ladies … no one told them they'll never be able to get that stench off of them =(

  3. Of course they do. These girls are smothered with often excessive restrictions. It’s only natural that a certain percentage of these girls will rebel, and what better way to get even with your parents.

  4. Ch Hoffman says:

who was the "seducer" and who was the seduced?

  5. Has anyone ever seen the movie/ tv show where the good girl is attracted to the bad boy, like the motorcyclist or the tough boy? This is the Israeli version but much more dangerous

  6. Stan Garfin says:

    arab men are good lovers

  7. Samuel Ramos says:

    Sounds like rebellious teenage phase.

  8. Berell Kohn says:

Yes I heard it. Some Frum parent get angry to his daughter too much. Jewish girl can risk to marry Arab men. I wish help Jewish girl

  9. Myriam Obadia says:

They are not only sheltered, but also grow up with the knowledge that they'll have to marry a man they hardly know, who doesn't work for a living, spends his time in yeshiva, doesn't care for or about her needs, exploits them, and make them bear a dozen kids, whether they want it or not. Of course, it's difficult for them to resist guys who pretend he loves them above all and shower them with gifts and attention. The Haredi should stop hiding from themselves the harm they're doing to themselves and Judaism in general with their rigid refusal to let young men out of the yeshiva and unable to be good husbands to their wives. Sex doesn't a relationship make: Jewish men must be good companions to Jewish women.

  10. Myriam Obadia says:

David, a bit of a racist, aren't you?

  11. Myriam Obadia says:

David, take a chill pill and reread my post. Saying that a woman can "never wash off the stench" of having a relationship with an Arab man is racist, as it implies that ALL Arab men stink, and sexist, as it implies that once a woman has been sexually active, t'shuva is never possible for her. By contrast, there is nothing antisemite in my claim that the Haredi's lifestyle imposed by their rabbis is both rigid and conducive of rebellion, especially among young women. All Jews aren't "Haredi", thanks Hashem

  12. Shameful!!! Disgraceful!

  13. Many thousands of young Israeli women living in Arab villages with Arab lovers, and yet if an Israeli man and an Arab woman became sexual, she would be killed by her close male relatives. It's time to talk about "honor" killings and the sexual dynamics of the Arab/Israeli conflict. Peace begins at home. How can we make peace with people who have not yet made peace with their own sisters, mothers and daughters? Please have a look at my website peacecircle.org.

  14. John Newman says:

If this is the case there are a significant number of Jewish persons living in P.A. areas. There are also Samaritans as well as Arabs of Jewish origin. It seems to me that P.A. officials remain for whatever money that they can obtain from other countries. Therefore this whole dispute is becoming a nonsense for the benefit of politicians.

  15. Cody Flecker says:

One would think that Israeli woman would know the difference between Arab scum, and pious Jews? It seems that most Israelis live in a fog when it comes to the Arabs.

  16. Eva Feld says:

It has always been a problem, Jewish women and Arab men. The Arabs know how to woe and the girls fall for it, it is attractive and it is lovely and very very romantic. And then the reality kicks in when she joins the family as a wife….disaster does not describe it.

  17. Anonymous says:

Many of the Jewish men in Israel should not fool around but be serious with the girls they date. If they have no marriage intentions, they should say so and not waste the girls time and involve her emotions. They flip from flower to flower and this is not the Jewish way. This could be one reason that the single Jewish girls are fed up and are looking for stability and commitment, of course with the wrong type who bluff them with words and material things..

  18. pinchas Lando says:

Amazing, not one word in the article about what the headline claimed. Of course all the posters can now bash chareidim without thinking about how biased the JP is against chareidim.

  19. Rina Gray says:

This girls are mental horny idiots. The strickt families made this stupid girls an easy pray. They didn't know, what they getting themselves in. Hope each of this stupid cows get what they deserve. I am not surpirsed of that. KIds in charedy families are so asocial, that they interested in anything, which not a part of their charedy life. I watch bunch of this kids every day. They go to Charedy men school, through our staircase near my home. You can see this road through someones yard is like adventure for them. Today I saw some buldores digging the land and 2 charedy boys almost jumped in the whole, to see what is happening. I think they are so out of real world, that anything whats not a part of their rutin world, like something exiting. There where gilr too, but she didn't came closer just watched from the far. Can you see this girl became older and watch from the fare, this interesting forbidden man? Add to it ragging hormons and uknowladge, that they will be married to some unknown man, who they probably not even like, and you get this time bomb. This girls are stupid, because they live not in real world, but in fantasy. But I can bet after they marry Arab, they would find out, they got in worse situation, than they where at home. But at home they have loving parents, but in Arabs family, they would have just enemies and nobody else to help.

  20. Nice Guy says:

Take blood fingerprints computerize facial features take DNA….then deport from Israel…if found again in Israel…ten years hard labor prison…crime…for no new dating or marrying a Jewish girl in Israel….

  21. Yechiel Baum says:

So now Jewish women realize the valuless of haredi men who do not serve their country are not men at all causing the women to the arms of the pagan arabs instead. When will the rabbi's learn that their selfishness is destroying Judaism.

  22. Chabad says:

    בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה’ אֱלהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעולָם. שֶׁלּא עָשנִי אִשָּׁה
Guess it makes a lot more sense now?

  23. Mmh, sounds familiar…

  24. this tactic is universal
