The flags flying outside the IDF medical corps hospital in the Philippines

NBC News chief medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman was reporting live on Friday, Nov. 8 in Bogo, Philippines after the cataclysmic Typhoon Haiyan struck that nation of islands on Nov. 8.  Bogo is where the Israel Defense Forces set up their hospital, and began treating those in need. The IDF has named this “Operation Islands of Hope.”

Of course the bigger miracle –  or at least the more important one – is that the Israelis are able to help so many.  And the thanks?  A baby was born at the hospital.  A healthy baby boy.  The parents named him Israel.
