Senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps al-Quds Force adviser Ahmad Karimpour bragged last week that Iran can wipe out Israel in “under eight minutes” if given the order.
“If the Supreme Leader [Ali Khamenei]’s orders [are] to be executed, with the abilities and the equipment at our disposal, we will raze the Zionist regime in less than eight minutes,” Karimpour said Thursday, according to the FARS news agency.
Earlier this month Brigadier General Ali Abdollahi was quoted by the state-run Tasnim news agency as saying Iran had successfully tested a medium-range ballistic missile system.
“We test-fired a missile with a range of 2,000 kilometers and a margin of error of eight meters,” Abdollahi told a Tehran science convention. He went on to say the eight meter margin means the “missile enjoys zero error.”
Under a United Nations mandate, “Iran is called upon not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology” until October 2023.
The ballistic missiles tested in March, and again in May, are capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, and capable of reaching Israel.
A bigger question is whether — or when — Iran might decide to share its latest arsenal with its proxy terror groups such as the Lebanon-based Hezbollah guerrilla force, or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror organization.
