Rabbinical Congress for Peace Blasts Netanyahu on Capitulation

Says promised referendum is a deception.
Capitulation

The Administrative Committee of the Rabbinical Congress for Peace (RCP) met in an emergency session today to discuss the inherent dangers in the resumption of negotiations with the Palestinians which reportedly includes additional withdrawals and release of terrorists. The rabbis had some very harsh words to say about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some of his ministers who support these negotiations.

Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Lewin, Executive Director of the RCP said the Prime Minister’s vow that he will hold a referendum on any peace deal “is a joke.” Didn’t Yitzchak Rabin and Ariel Sharon say that before the Oslo deal and the Gaza disengagement. A referendum can be very deceptive too depending how you phrase the question.

The question posed to the nation will not read “Taking into account that every deal with the Arabs till now resulted in massive bloodshed, thousands of missiles, buses blown up all over Israel killing and maiming thousands of civilians and each area from which Israel withdrew became a launching pad for terrorist activity as former defense minister Ehud Barak said “we gave back every inch of Gaza and got 10,000 missiles in return. Taking all this in account are you in favor of withdrawing from territories from Judea and Samaria? But instead the question will read “Are you in favor of surrendering more territory for peace?” (implying that if you vote against it you’re voting against peace which is deceptive).

Besides, said Rabbi Lewin, “the mere resumption of talks is a tactical victory for the Palestinians and will infuse more life in the terrorist organizations to carry out more attacks. It should be clear that the Palestinian Authority has no intention of making peace. It only wants to get concessions and blame Israel for an absence of peace. It knows that the Obama Administration will never punish it if it balks but probably will only offer it more.”

The rabbis made it clear that according to the explicit Ruling the Jewish Code of Law (Laws of Sabbath 329:6) the mere negotiations are considered a danger to life. All one has to do is open up the newspapers in the last 20 years and will see how this warning materialized over and over again. “There can be no other classification for Israel’s agreeing to resume negotiations other than capitulation and endangering all the citizens of Israel.

Rabbi Sholom Gold, a prominent rabbi in Har Nof, Jerusalem screamed: Is there no limit to blindness? Precisely now when the entire Arab world around us is involved in wars and uprisings and no one can predict what will happen tomorrow and who will be in power, is this a time to negotiate for more concessions? And with who? With one murderer who tomorrow can be replaced by another murderer? This is the greatest tragedy of our nation to announce in advance that it is ready for more concessions and kneeling to pressure when there is no one in the world, not the USA, not Europe and not even Netanyahu himself who is deluding himself to believe that this will lead to peace. Israel has declared unconditional surrender,” said Rabbi Gold.

“On the contrary Israel has a golden opportunity to declare that as a result of the dramatic instability in the region we cannot surrender even one inch of territory and the world would accept this.

Rabbi Moshe Havlin, Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Gat, said that the mere fact that the negotiations will include the release of terrorists is risking the lives of Jews and total capitulation to Israel’s enemies.

Rabbi Joseph Gerlitzky, Chairman of the RCP, summed up the meeting saying that the RCP must launch a very strong struggle against this calamity. In the coming days and weeks members of the RCP will meet with every MK and minister and tell them plain and simple ‘you are bound by Jewish law to oppose Netanyahu’s decision vigorously and to warn him that they will leave the government. If you will not do so you will not be able to wipe your hands clean from the bloodshed that this deplorable process will cause,’” Rabbi Gerlitzky said.

because the rabbis know a lot more about the political situation than Bibi.
Even though he was elected. And even though he's been fighting for Israel's safety for years and years.

But they know better. Because they don't have to pay the bills, or deal with the world, or maintain security, or do all the things that a responsible leader of a government has to do.

They can sit in their beis medrish; they can gin up their supporters; and they can claim that having learned a few blatt gemara makes them experts on national security.

And the JP can afford them the prominence in its coverage because it is even further removed from reality

  2. Kerry is nothing but a stupid liberal who is not qualified for the job.

  3. Tim Upham says:

The same thing was done to Yitzhak Rabin for signing the Oslo Accords. It is just that Netanyahu wants to finish them.

  4. Ch Hoffman says:

Rabbinical Congress I've read your self-serving mashup of Torah and ultra-nationalism a number of times
It assumes that you are right, and nobody else knows anything

It also assumes that somehow the world is going to all fall into line with your analysis, that American administrations will never tire of your antics, and that the state of Florida will forever be "in play" in national elections.

What it doesn't accept is that Israel cannot be both a democratic state and also have fewer than half its population control the destiny and lives of the other half. Or does rational political analysis fly out the window when you sit down with your quote machine looking for justification for your positions in halacha

  5. Netanyahu is indeed under a great deal of pressure; one can farily say that he truly has the most thankless job in the world.

But that said, you don't have to be an 'ultranationalist rabbi' to see that at some point, the man who leads and speaks for all of Israel has got to stand up and declare that this particular emperor – the "peace process" – has no clothes, and is simply an empty and destructive charade.

It is obvious that the goal of the Arab/Moslem world with respect to Israel is her elimination. They first tried conventional military attacks – that failed. They tried local political and economic isolation – they are broke (at least the ones without oil), and Israel is thriving.

So, all they have left is using the Palestinian Arabs as their cannon fodder, along with corrupting Western governments, media, and academia, in order to delegitimize Israel, such that she cannot justify to world opinion even the most rudimentary right to self-defense that any other sovereign state could take for granted.

What must happen is first, that the PA/PLO is delegitimized as legitimate standard bearers of Palestinian Arab national aspirations. This should not be hard to do; their refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state released Israel from any requirement to recognize the PA/PLO as legiitimate themselves.

From there, it is a short line to identifying Jordan, with her overwhelming Palestinian Arab majority population as the true homeland of the Palestinian Arabs. Jordan is the TRUE 'apartheid state'; only through democratic reforms there that allow the Palestinian Arab majority in that country to be 'masters in their own home' is there to be found a just solution to this problem, that will hold out the prospect for peace.

THEREFORE, the onus for satisfying Palestinian national aspirations must be shifted AWAY from Israel, and ONTO Jordan, where it belongs. Only in this way, can Israel get Obama/Kerry, the EU, the UN, etc., off of her back. It won't be easy – surprise, surprise – but there really is no other alternative.

  6. Rabbi's and their scholars should all serve in the Army. Maybe then they will understand the reality of the middle east.

  7. Anonymous says:

I believe that they do serve in the Army. Do you have any other specific information? Or are you getting confused with the Haredi?

  8. Hpela says:

I have tried to read this article carefully.

The Rabbinical Congress for Peace determination is correct but one assertion made is lacking.

First, let me explain why I think they are correct.

There is an expression, when things aren’t working out so well, that is: ‘follow the KISS rule.’ -PARGL

The KISS rule is: ‘Keep it simple stupid.’

In other words, go to the basics.

If the PEACE TALKS are a FARCE then DO NOT ENGAGE.

If the release of PRISONERS will ENDANGER LIVE the DO NOT RELEASE.

If the CEDING OF LAND to the PA will only REEP NEGATIVE REPROCUSSIONS on ISRAEL then DO NOT CEDE.

Simple enough. But there is part two to this problem and discussing it brings into range the part of the Congress’s assertions that is lacking.

That part that is lacking is on whose hands there will be Jewish blood if Mr Netanyahu does not make the righteous choices they put for.

You see, the BLOOD will be on ALL our HANDS but ESPECIALLY on the HANDS OF the armchair critics nestled comfortably in their little DIASPORA homes.

We are all ONE NATION. Whether you agreed in the formation of Israel or not, it is. The ENTIRE EARTH KNOWS that ISRAEL EXISTS, therefore it is, whether any single person or group likes it. The MULTITUDE of the WORLD’S POPULATION directly relate the STATE OF ISRAEL as BELONGING TO the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.
Therefore, THE STATE OF ISRAEL DOES EXIST AND IT BELONGS TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.

This is OUR COUNTRY and it is on the CHOPPING BLOCK poised for SLAUGHTER. The question shouldn’t be what are you going to do about it, it should be WHAT ARE YOU ALREADY DOING ABOUT IT?

WAKE UP! HEAR O ISRAEL, YOUR COUNTRY is under SEIGE and the HOUR is LATE.

Even if you didn’t agree to the formation if the state of Israel, it should NEVER been ACCEPTABLE that even ONE JEWISH LIFE be lost. WE ARE ONE. We were never ever supposed to get comfortable in the diaspora, EVER!

The REASON ISRAEL is FAILING is BECAUSE OF US.

We have stopped being that if we do what is RIGHTEOUS FOR ISRAEL it will automatically be RIGHTEOUS FOR THE WORLD.

We have stopped believing that if we DO what is RIGHTEOUS, GOD WILL PROTECT US.

We have stopped believing that not only should we not have ever allowed ourselves to become comfortable in the diaspora, we should be in a continual state of preparedness.

Israel needs the help of us all, before it becomes as dust.

  9. My beliefs regarding this so called peace plan is that for Israel to offer or be persuaded to offer land for peace is equivalent to an immoral compromise with evil. It would be an act of bald faced doubt of the word of God and his promises and not merely an appeasement with those who would take God’s land; but an act that knowingly gives the enemy of God military positions for their future use that they will doubtlessly use in the time to come. There is no excuse for any nations leaders including Israel’s and the United States for entering any agreement of this sort. Over the years I have prayed as a Christian for the peace of Israel and for the peace of all of the nations of the middle east. I have prayed that they would make peace without attempting to steal from God, but to date I am sad to say that those prayers have not come back with positive pronouncements on mans designs for God’s land. With conditions as they are in this day and age, I believe I can state that soon our time to pray for or talk to or give aid to the nations of the middle east as a Christian are coming to a close. Those who doubt the soon approach of the rapture should doubt no more. I wrote a small 6 page book that outlines what I believe the Bible states will take place soon as well as the potential trends I see at this time. I don’t accept donations and it’s free. It’s a short read. I encourage you to have a look: http://www.booksie.com/religion_and_spirituality/book/richard_b_barnes/after-the-rapture-whats-next.

  11. republicc1948 nobody said they don't serve in the army

but they're not the ones ultimately responsible for Israel's security – the PM is!@@

  12. The Guardian says:

The Rabbis offer hope that that there are still a few vocal Jews left in the world who are willing to stand up for reason, the State of Israel, and the right of the Jewish people to defend themselves in a world gone mad. The Peres/Netanyahu/Neville Chaimberlin “Peace In Our Time” paper waivers are a far greater threat to Israel than Iran, Hizzbollah, Hamas, and the EU combined. Appeasement of Jew-hating Arab/Muslim Islamo-facists will produce the same results that appeasement of the Jew-hating Nazi-fascists did in the 1930′s. History teaches that appeasment never works. Peace can only come from strength. Not just military strength (which Israel has), but from ideological, moral and spiritual strength – which is something Israel’s leaders lack. So I say “Thank you Rabbis for showing some courage and backbone!”

  13. Moshe Feigling for PM. America pushed morsi terrorist on Egypt and they rejected it. Now the USA wants to
Push Abbas and surrender to terror on Israel.
Israelis should reject it and leaders like Bibi who are puppets of the USA following their insane advice.

    Hi Dov,

I would hope that you will be working non -stop to torpedo the negoiatations with the Arabs.

here is a short list of the reasons.

    1. antisemitism will not in any way be reduced by any agreement. The world hate us because they hate nothing will ever change.

    2. No one has any right to make a decision for all klal Yisrael and for future generations to cede parts of Eretz Yisrael.

    3. In the past a heter from some Rabbonim was based on the theory that it was a matter of pikuaach nefesh. No honest person believes that Israel would be safer by going back to the Auschwitz lines. Withdrawls from Gaza and Lebanon only prove the point.

    4. The quality of life for the average Israeli would be hell. They are talking about the forceful eviction of over 100,000 yidden.

The trauma the suicide rate the joblessness the divorces would be horrific.

    5. The cost of rents would skyrocket. making life unbearable for everyone.

    6. The environment would be irreversibly polluted. I live in Beit- El.

The arabs burn their garbage a few times a day making life here many times downright unhealthy.

They drive recklessly. They do not have any sewage treatment facilities and the ground water is being polluted as we speak.

They do not pay their electric bills. We do.

7.Having their own state will put us at their mercy.

Most important reason is that by giving up Eretz yisrael we will once again be repeating the sin of the spies who rejected eretz yisrael and this caused all the problems we have today.

    8. had the Arabs accepted Baraks offer we would have today 10,000 causulties and Eretz yisrael might have been lost and pushing away the geula further.

    9. I don't believe hashem put you in the knesset to oppress the chareidim. He has a bigger role for you of speaking up and saving the klal and bringing the geula.

    10. secular zionism is dying. They lie to the people. No one will believe their promises to resettle the evacuess.

Givat Haulpena is a good example in point. They destroyed beautiful buildings and they put them in small pathetic cravans.

They promised the residents that they build 300 units and all of it being frozen.

Bet el will not stay under any agreement. Did you ever visit here to see how a model Jewish community works?

The kedushah here is beyond description this can never be replaced. It would be a virtual destruction of the Beis hamikdash again.

  16. Why do the rabbis not trust their prime minister, he has shown the world that he can stand up to the U.S.A and that he is no one's pushover? we all understand that G-d has brought the Israelites or Jews back into their homeland, and not to fear as the Lord G-d Himself will fight for them. I cant G-d see the prime minister giving up more land, like Sharon did with the Gaza strip and sort of pit Jews against one another G-d bless Israel and its people.
