One police officer is in life-threatening condition in Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek Hospital after having been stabbed by an Arab terrorist near Damascus Gate in the Old City. The second officer suffered light to moderate wounds. A third officer was wounded in the crossfire that killed the terrorist.
Doctors said they have stabilized the policeman’s condition but that his life is out of danger.
He and two other riot-control policemen were stabbed Saturday afternoon in the Old City after the terrorist handed over to the policeman his identification card. Other officers shot and killed the terrorist, but a stray bullet lightly wounded another officer.
The attack occurred several hours after police officers shot and killed another Arab teenage terrorist who had stabbed two Hareidi Jews near Damascus Gate, both of them in their 60s. They suffered light to moderate wounds.
