The Palestinian Authority government in Ramallah recalled envoys “for consultations” from four European Union nations on Wednesday.

The day before, PLO envoy to the United States Husam Zomlot was recalled to Ramallah from Washington DC.

The move affected envoys on Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania.

It came in response to their attendance at official Israel Foreign Ministry reception for the U.S. presidential delegation to Monday’s inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, which Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas referred to in a fury on Monday as “a settlement outpost.”

A statement issued subsequently by the Palestinian Authority Foreign Ministry said the participation by the four EU nations constituted “a grave violation of international law and several UN resolutions that affirm that Jerusalem is occupied land since 1967.”

The envoys of 33 nations out of 86 countries who were invited to the event participated in the joyous celebration.
