U.S. Special Representative to International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt

U.S. Special Representative to International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt deeply censured Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization and its patron Iran on Sunday in a series of extended posts on the Twitter social networking site for squandering the tens of millions of dollars it receives on weapons instead of its citizens.

“Hamas should be improving the lives of those it purports to govern, but instead chooses to increase violence and cause misery for the people of Gaza,” Greenblatt tweeted.

“Imagine what the people of Gaza could do with the $100 million Iran gives Hamas annually that Hamas uses for weapons and tunnels to attack Israel!”

Greenblatt went further, however, pointing out just how far Iran goes in its zeal to destabilize the rest of the region, and how little good the money actually accomplishes.

“Iran spends almost a billion dollars a year sponsoring terrorism in Lebanon, Israel, and West Bank/Gaza. This blood money only increases violence and does nothing to help the Palestinian people.

“The corrupt regime in Tehran squanders the resources of the Iranian people on military adventures throughout the region instead of investing at home and promoting peace abroad.

Finally, he wrote, “Hamas must also permit the repatriation of Hadar Goldin’s remains and the release of Oron Shaul, as well as the release of Israeli civilians – Avraham Abera Mengistu, Hisham al-Sayed and Juma Ibrahim Abu Ghanima.”

The latter three Israelis have not been heard from or seen since they crossed the border in 2014. The two IDF officers were killed in Hamas attacks that took place during what was were supposed to be “cease-fire” periods in the 2014 war with Hamas in Gaza. The bodies of both were taken by Hamas terrorists and have been held in Gaza since.
