White House aide David Simas conspicuously avoided congratulating Netanyahu altogether on his victory Wednesday morning. Instead he pointedly congratulated “the Israeli people for the democratic process for the election that they just engaged in with all the parties that engaged in that election.”

Reiterating for the umpteenth time that “By coming to the U.S.” to deliver his recent address to Congress he “didn’t mean any disrespect or partisanship…” Netanyahu emphasized, “We’re allies. We have to consult each other. And America has no greater ally. The U.S. is Israel’s greatest ally.”
