Kuwait ‘Proud’ of Athlete Who Refused to Play against Israeli

Kuwait expressed “pride” over its star Taekwondo athlete who lost the chance for an international championship because he refused to play against an Israeli in a contest of the marital art whose students’ oath is to “build a more peaceful world.”

Kuwaiti taekwondo federation chairman Waleed el-Mirshad praised Abdullah el-Farhood for withdrawing from the Trelleborg Open 2013 Sweden on Saturday rather than having to play in a contest with a Zionist.

“The move comes in harmony with the State of Kuwait’s deep-rooted policy of boycotting Israel,” he said.
