Remember Palestinian Authority prime minster Salam Fayyad, hand-picked by the United States? He tried to modernize the Palestinian Authority and get rid of corruption, which is like making baseball illegal in the United States. Two year ago, Fayyad quit before he was fired.

Rumley, in the National Interest, pointed out that Yasser Abed Rabbo is another senior leader who was getting too big for Abbas’ britches.

Abbas fired Abed Rabbo in 2011 as head of Palestinian Authority media, but he still is a chief honcho in the PA executive committee.

Dahlan and Abed Rabbo have a common cause – getting back at Abbas. They met last month in the UAE, reportedly with Fayyad.

Things are getting out of hand for Abbas. After the pro-Dahlan march in Gaza, he fired several Fatah workers who were at the rally, according to Rumley.

He also accused Hamas of paying protesters.

Abbas is paranoid.

He has built universal support for his diplomatic war against Israel, which he now is taking to the International Criminal Court, a move that could boomerang and find him sitting on the dock for war crime accusations.

When Dahlan was Fatah’s strong man in Gaza, he had excellent relations with the Sharon government.

Hamas and Netanyahu have no common enemies, except one.

His name is Mahmoud Abbas.

And if the Dahlan-Abed Rabbo front creates a rupture in the Palestinian Authority, causing to finally fall apart, give Netanyahu a bit of credit.
