One does not necessarily share the opinions of one’s brother. One may disapprove of his actions, values, and/or beliefs. However, with brothers there is a bond of love and caring that transcends all differences. To say that a person is not a Jew means that he is not a brother. It means that there is not one body with one heart, and sadly it means that there is no Torah.

Congregation Young Israel Ezras Israel of Potomac is a mainstream Modern Orthodox synagogue with a strong love for chesed, Torah and the State of Israel. The Potomac community is warm and vibrant and enjoys its own beautiful mikvah, is in close proximity to many kosher establishments and day schools, and is a convenient commute to work in Western Montgomery County, Northern Virginia or the District. On Shabbat there are supervised groups led by its teens and overseen by its youth director.

B’er Chayim Temple was founded during the Civil War and its current building was constructed in 1861. It is the oldest continuous operating synagogue at the same location, in Cumberland.
