I don’t want to be disrespectful. I want to have peace in my home. As it is I have conflict and tension at work, and so does my husband, so when we get home and it’s a Yom Tov we would like a tension-free atmosphere. I’m not happy with the stress that goes with Yom Tovim. These should be joyous times but in my home it becomes difficult. There’s just too much going on.

So, Rebbetzin, I turn to you. I remember my Bubbie’s words every week when she read your column: “The Rebbetzin has the best answers to problems.” But how would you resolve this one? And by the way, I know that many of my friends struggle with the same challenges.

In seeking advice, I do not want it to seem like I’m complaining. I have the most wonderful family and am grateful to Hashem for everything. Just the same, I would like to experience a joyous Yom Tov without aggravation. I go out of my way to cook and bake all sorts of goodies for my children and grandchildren. I want so much for them to have happy memories of Yom Tov in my home.

I know there are real problems in the world – problems of life and death – and compared to those, my problems are nothing. But I nevertheless need your help in transforming my struggles and tensions into happy experiences so that the house may be filled with simcha, which is what Yom Tov is all about.

Rebbetzin, I wish you a very wonderful Chag Sameach. We need you and Am Yisrael needs you.
