Rivka Wakslak and her husband, Rabbi Dr. Chaim Wakslak, rav of the Young Israel of Long Beach, knew the Fish family only casually for many years and were unaware of the sheer scope of their kiruv activities. Hearing what was said at the levayah and seeing the crowds who had come to give him his final kavod inspired Rivka to learn more.
“Mr. Fish was so modest and unassuming that only those directly in contact could have any idea of what he was up to,” she says. “We should have paid attention sooner. His methods were intense and costly in terms of time, energy, and effort. But his success was enviable. Every parent and educator who cares about young people and wants to help them become successful adults would do well to learn from him.”
