In the wake of the Obama pacts more skeletons are now roaming the fields of Middle East from Tunisia to Iraq than ever before. Israeli chief of Military Intelligence , Major-General Aviv Kochavi, recently stated that for the first time in many years, Israel is now threatened from 360 degrees, where as before it was only threatened by the Hezbollah. Eilat has been repeatedly attacked by rockets from the Sinai, and the Mediterranean is threatened by Russian made Syrian Yachunt missiles. Thanks to the Obama foreign policy doctrine Al-Qaeda is now deeply entrenched in the region, holding territory from Iraq to Israel and is situated on Israel’s northern border. Two years ago there were 2,500 World Jihad fighters in Syria, today they number more than 30,000. About 170,000 rockets are aimed at Israel today, all capable of carrying heavy explosive loads. The Israeli Air Force chief, Major-General Amir Eshel, described the typical Hezbollah military base as an unmarked apartment in a 3 or 4 story building with a turn key operation to launch rockets into Israel. There are thousands of them, all shielded by innocent women and children tenants living in these buildings. Israel will have to neutralize these bases under the watchful eye of J-Street and the Goldstones of the world.
This is Israel’s reality. It changes daily, sometimes for the better, but often for the worse. Secretary John Kerry is about to inject yet another vague plan into the sea of uncertainty that is the Middle East. The early hype about the negotiations is now forgotten. Kerry’s plan will be a stripped down to a point of solving nothing, but it will set new bad precedents. Just like the Munich pact which entitled Iran the right to enrich uranium, Kerry’s plan will establish Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital, put limits on Israel’s security presence in the Jordan Rift Valley, usher in Al Qaeda, and (without Israeli military presence in the Jordan Valley) destabilize the kingdom of Jordan.
