Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday he is prepared to host a U.S.-sponsored meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, according to a report by the China Global TV Network.

Abbas made the remark during a joint news briefing with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Ramallah on Monday, May 8, following their talks.

“I updated the German president about the actions we are carrying out for our people, the Palestinian people, to achieve their freedom and their independence.

“Especially our meeting last week with His Excellency, President Trump, who accepted our invitation and we are looking forward to meeting him soon in Bethlehem.

“We assured him of our readiness to cooperate with Trump and to meet the Israeli prime minister under his sponsorship in order to make peace,” Abbas said.
