European Union foreign ministers, a day after announcing the adoption of an oil embargo on Iran, described Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria as a “worrying development,” in a statement released Monday.
The statement said that “[a]gainst the backdrop of worrying developments on the ground in 2011, particularly with regards to settlements, the EU reaffirms its commitment to a two-state solution.”
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton is scheduled to visit Israel, Judea and Samaria, and Gaza this week.
