On Eve of Ceasefire, Hamas Celebrates Bus Explosion with Sweet Cakes

The Ma’an news agency reports that Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri hailed the explosion in Tel Aviv this afternoon.
“Hamas blesses the attack in Tel Aviv and sees it as a natural response to the Israeli massacres…in Gaza,” he told Reuters. “Palestinian factions will resort to all means in order to protect our Palestinian civilians in the absence of a world effort to stop the Israeli aggression.”
Sweet cakes were handed out in celebration in Gaza’s main hospital, which has been inundated with wounded from the round-the-clock Israeli bombing and shelling.
“You opened the gates of hell on yourselves,” Hamas’s armed wing, the al-Qassam brigades, said on Twitter. “Oh Zionists, you have to drag yourselves out of hell, go back home now, go back to Germany, Poland, Russia, America and anywhere else.”
The last time a bomb blast hit Israel’s commercial capital was in April 2006, when an Arab suicide bomber killed 11 people at a sandwich stand near the old central bus station.
Hamas Terrorists have fired at least four rockets at Tel Aviv over the past week, but they were not able to get any direct hits and caused no casualties.
Israel launched its air offensive with the goal of putting a stop all missile launches out of the Gaza Strip, which lies a little over 40 miles south of Tel Aviv. So far, despite a dense and relentless pounding by the Israeli air force, of targets that have been analyzed and picked over months, and despite the fact that many Hamas assets have been laid to ruin – the terrorists are still able to inflict pain on Israel’s civilian population.
As every army in modern history has learned, you can’t win wars from the air, or even with artillery from afar. Wars are won by infantry and armored units who move in and deny the enemy the freedom to continue operations.
Now pass me one of them sweet cakes.

IDF hero veteran Amatzia Chen calls to make Operation Pillar of Defense a full-blown, decisive war. Chen proposed a course of action. “The state of Israel would do well to declare war against the terrorist organizations, whose activities have earned us the right to self-defense,” he said. Then, he continued, “instead of bringing in ground troops, Israel should flatten one village after another from the air… of course, informing all the residents, by phone, loudspeaker, in every possible way, to leave the area.” “It sounds problematic,” he noted, “but that’s war.” The only way to topple Hamas is through pressure on the population of Gaza, he said; not by killing them, “but by asking them to leave their homes, one block after the next.”.
I understand that this bus bombing was a coordinated effort with advanced planning and not a reactionary one due to the situation in Gaza. Last week, the security manager in the Dept of Ed in Jerusalem called all of his workers for a secret meeting. Just now, I've learned what that meeting was about via Debka. "Police have been on alert for terrorist attacks since last week when Hamas and Jihad Islami threatened to revert to their suicide bombing campaign inside Israeli towns." All security offices in Israel have been on high alert without getting the public into a panic.
I trust Prime Minister Netanyahu to make the best possible decision on Israel's actions.
Nothing is black and white about major decisions like a ground occupation of Gaza.
This horrible bombing was done by the PA's Al Aksa group.
Is it in Israel's interest to continue the PA after they have renounced non-violence and Resolution 242's secure and recognized boundaries?
I would have thought that it would be better to get rid of the PA and to occupy.
Gaza and get rid of Hamas once and for all.
But I assume Netanyahu knows better.
