The Young Israel congregation serving the communities of Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Indian Creek, and Surfside is nearing completion of its new state-of-the-art synagogue that will feature a magnificent 400-seat sanctuary. The synagogue will include beautiful stained-glass windows, stunning carved glass aron kodesh, ballroom and social hall, beit medrash, sukkah, underground parking, and other much-anticipated accommodations.
The building is centrally located on the corner of 96th Street and Abbott Avenue and is in walking distance to all the communities the shul serves. Members of the growing congregation look forward to moving into their beautiful new building.
The Young Israel runs many classes and programs. The synagogue hosts speakers, scholars-in-residence, Shabbatons, and educational and cultural events. And its youth groups are terrific.
Building campaign chairman Jack Gluck has led the effort over many years. “Our membership,” he says, “has been so very gracious in their heartfelt generosity to make the dream of our new home a reality. We are very excited to see the fruits of our labor taking shape. People who have had a chance to tour the new facility have remarked how stunning it is. The new sanctuary will serve as an excellent platform for our esteemed spiritual leader, Rabbi Moshe Gruenstein.”
