Congressman Nadler, you say you will “vote against a Resolution of Disapproval.” Does that mean you are willing to vote for a Resolution of Approval? Are you willing to have your name on that bomb, as Senator Menendez said he is unwilling to do? Are you willing to let your children and grandchildren know this is the gift you are sending them? I hope you will reconsider the seriousness of your decision and reverse it, while at the same time encouraging your colleagues to do the same.

Treasured Card

I thoroughly enjoyed Saul Jay Singer’s Sept. 4 front page essay, “Shanah Tovah Cards and the First Zionist Congress,” especially since I too own a (small and modest) collection of vintage cards.

My most valuable card, however, is a comparatively recent one. A simple portrait of my parents, Dora and David Zegerman, and myself is depicted on a white background measuring only 2 ½ inches by 4 inches but it speaks volumes. The card was created while our family was living in the Gabarsee Displaced Persons Camp in Munich, Germany, in 1950 as we and the other refugees envisioned a good new year ahead.
