I loved Rabbi Keleman's masterful descriptions of the origins of Christmas. In my view, 25th December was chosen because it was the Feast Day of 'Sol Invictus', a Syrian Pagan God worshiped be the Emperor Constantine who I believe never converted to Christianity. His mother Helen did. In return for allowing Christianity to become an official religion in the Roman Empire, the Christians had to adopt the 25th December as the alleged birthday of Jesus whose persona simply merged with Sol Invictus (The Invincible Sun God). The Halo shining above the head ofJesus and subsequently all canonised saints is a reminder of the connection with the Sun God.

Every morning I look for a good, clean “Old Jews Telling Jokes” joke to share with you, and most mornings I give up after a few minutes, because most of the jokes being told by these old Jews just don’t belong in a fine, Orthodox website. This one, thank God, is clean. Incidentally, I don’t [...]

Who’s on First? Rabbi Steven Schwartz as “Father Mulcahy” and The Most Interesting Jewish Man in the World (Cantor Thom King) give a Purim version of a Hebrew Lesson- adapted from Rabbi Jack Moline. The acting could get better, but the jokes are well thought out. Worth the 5 minutes!

Strange, how the late Rabbi Kahane’s views have moved from the extreme right to the center in 20 years. Never mind his political agenda — while I can’t speak for anyone else, I personally could not endorse the transfer of Arabs any more than I would the transfer of Jews (although it’s interesting how those [...]

Or, at least, it’s showing a hairy creature knocking over a lawn chair and taking a few sips from the pool water. Now, you may ask, what’s Jewish about Bigfoot? The answer is that there’s also a security sound recording of the same creature saying She’hakol.

An Iranian scholar argues that the entire Tom and Jerry cartoon enterprise was erected by the Jews in order to remove the shame of Europe, where they were called “dirty mice.” On the way he confuses Walt Disney (who was no big fan of Jews) with Hanna Barbera, the creators of Tom and Jerry.
