We exist in a state of, “to the land that I will show you.” There are two ways to handle this. We can be nervous and anxious and feel unsettled, over-plan and gnash our teeth when the plans don’t work out…or, we can put our total trust in Hashem and feel secure that He is leading the way and directing us. Which do you think will give you a real sense of calm?

By the way…nothing else really works! Let me tell you a true story.

People love their GPS; just type in the address and it tells you exactly how to get to where you want to go. There was a couple visiting from Eretz Yisroel and they decided to go to Niagara Falls. My brother-in-law asked them if they needed directions and the husband responded, “No thanks, I have a GPS.” Around eight hours later my brother-in-law gets a phone call from the man: I don’t see any signs for Niagara Falls? Should it take this long? “Okay,” my brother-in-law says, “What signs do you see?”

“I see a sign for Cleveland…”

“Cleveland?! You’re nowhere near Niagara Falls!”

They accidentally clicked the “take route with no tolls” option. They drove eight hours with absolute faith that the GPS (G-d’s Poor Substitute) was taking them to their desired destination, and ended up in the wrong place.

But we don’t need to worry; that is never the case in our lives. Hashem is always leading us in the way that is best for us. There’s no need (and no point) to fret or worry because we are always headed in the right direction; every step we take is with Hashem guiding us. Our job is to realize that Hashem is leading, and to go, go, go b’simcha on our way.
