Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed world leaders and heads of delegations who have begun to arrive in Israel for the fifth World Holocaust Forum that is taking place this week at Yad Vashem.

“I welcome the leaders from around the world who are coming here, to Jerusalem, to mark – together with us – 75 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“It is important that they remember where we came from, and it is important that they see where we have gone.”

The Prime Minister’s Office, in cooperation with the Jerusalem Municipality and the JNF, has been completing the final preparations for the dedication ceremony of the monument in memory of the heroism of the soldiers and residents who were killed during the siege of Leningrad in World War II.

A general rehearsal was held Tuesday ahead of the dedication, which is set to take place on Thursday (Jan. 23).
