“Breaking the Silence — could you maybe break your own silence in this embarrassing affair? What happened? You broke your silence so many times against the State of Israel and against the heroic IDF soldiers that you’re fresh out of words to use when you really need to? This is when you became silent? It’s so difficult for you to condemn an attempted murder? Or maybe this silence is due to the fact that even now you’re investing your rich vocabulary to persuade yet another group abroad to boycott Israel? I must say how shocking it is to me, to hear that a man who used to be the director of Israel’s foreign ministry is working in the service of the BDS and teaching young people how important it is to boycott Israel abroad, and turn on the pressure (the latter reference is to Alon Lial, star of the new NGO scandal, who was secretly taped instructing Breaking the Silence activists on how to turn Israel into the new South Africa in Western minds).

“Ta’ayush — the meaning of your organization’s name in Arabic is ‘coexistence’ and you define yourselves as ‘an organization of Arabs and Jews acting to break down the walls of racism and apartheid out of a true Arab-Jewish partnership.” This has to be a joke. An organization whose head sent Palestinians to their deaths is talking about ‘true partnership.’ After all, what’s a truer partnership than the one between the torturer and his victim…

“The short-term implications of the Uvda report are crystal clear. The police have started an investigation of those involved and I call on everyone to wait patiently until it is completed. Some of the material was already shown in the report and some is still being exposed over the past few days. I have no doubt that law enforcement agencies will do a good job here.

“In the long run, I believe that the more transparency we create in this area, the better it will be for all of us. We saw what one little exposé has done to the public discourse in Israel, and I have no doubt that an increased and permanent transparency will create a healthier dialog in Israeli society.”
