Three people died in hospital and two more are being treated for serious injuries at Barzilai medical center in Ashkelon, after a rocket fell in the yard of an Ashkelon plant on Sunday. According to the doctors, all the injuries were the result of rocket shrapnel.

The MDA Spokesperson issued an update regarding the rocket which fell in the Ashkelon area: MDA teams are treating and transferring to Barzilai Hospital 3 wounded with shrapnel injuries including a 40-year-old and 22-year-old with multi-system trauma. An additional 50-years-old man is being treated for moderate injuries to his upper body and extremities.

Senior MDA paramedic, Israel Lugassi, shared: “When we arrived at the scene, we noticed a lot of distraction. There were 3 males lying outside the factory. A 22-year-old youngster was laying on the ground unconscious. He sustained wounds to his entire body after being hit by shrapnel. Next to him, there was a man in his 40s, who was also unconscious with wounds caused by shrapnel. A third male (in his 50s) who was also wounded, was fully conscious and walking around the scene. He suffered from a bleeding wound in his back. We provided them with lifesaving medical treatment on the scene and evacuated the patients while continuing treatment. We transmitted them to the trauma room in the hospital. The 22-year-old was critically wounded, the 40-year-old was severely wounded, and the 50-year old was mildly wounded.”

In addition, a driver was critically wounded by a direct rocket hit at a road junction in the Gaza vicinity.

The barrage of rockets has expanded in the last hour to the Be’er Sheva area, a rocket exploded in an open area in a local neighborhood, causing no casualties.

Another rocket hit a house in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

Kan 11 reporter Udi Ben David, who was near the site of the rocket hit tweeted: “In this area you have less than 15 seconds to reach a protected space. We did not even get into the shelter and the missile fell a few meters from us.”

Alarms were heard in Nahal Oz, Alumim, Sderot, Ashkelon, Lachish, Arad, Be’er Sheva and the regional councils of Sdot Negev, Ashkelon and Eshkol.

Rocket damage impacted a kindergarten in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported that two people were killed in an IDF attack in Gaza City.
