More than 360 South Florida Jewish teens gathered at Ninja Lounge for NCSY’s Midnight Madness on Labor Day, kicking off an exciting year for NCSY. Teens traveled from as far north as Palm Beach and from as far south as Kendall. They represented a variety of Jewish schools and organizations.

They included Jewish Student Union (JSU clubs), the largest network of public school clubs for Jewish high school students in South Florida; the Nex-Jen Competition, NCSY’s leadership training program for students in private secular academies; Project JUMP (Jewish Unity and Mentorship Program) participants from five local Jewish high schools; and NCSY’s Israel Advocacy Initiative Fellows.

Prior to the event, the regional board held its third meeting, finalizing plans for the rest of the year and reviewing recruitment strategies, as did NCSY’s Teen Philanthropy Interns.

“This was a wonderful way to launch what promises to be an extremely rewarding year for Jewish teens all over South Florida,” said Todd Cohn, executive director. “And with over 80 alumni from various NCSY summer programs in attendance, it’s never to early to start recruiting for next year’s Israel trips.”

(Correction: The NCSY summer trip to Israel highlighted in the Sept. 11 South Florida section Jewish Press should have been referred to as The Ann Samson Jerusalem Journey TJJ.)
