One Response to “Not Everyone is Convinced that Gas Prices Have Gone Too High”

  1. Steve says:

As gas prices hiked again, Prime Minister Netanyahu symbolically lowered the tax on gas by a mere 10 Agurot. So instead of rising by 44 Agurot, gas rose by 34 Agurot today, and the new price of gas will be NIS 7.74 instead of NIS 7.84.

In August, Netanyahu lowered the gas tax by 31 Agurot to offset the gas price hike, but the tax was restored to its previous level shortly afterwards.

A whopping 53% of the gas price is tax.

Due to the rising gas prices in general, the government raked in an extra NIS 50 million in taxes this year off the backs of the citizens.
