Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon replies to questions in the plenary session at the Knesset

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the rest of the government leadership will receive a pay raise this year.

The Knesset Finance Committee this week approved a monthly pay raise of NIS 5,500 for Netanyahu – approximately $16,00 – and a raise of NIS 5,000 – some $1,450 – for cabinet ministers.

With the raise, the base salary of the prime minister will now equal NIS 49,600 per month ($14,500) and that of the ministers will be NIS 44,200 ($13,000) per month.

The raises are expected to cost the Israeli taxpayer approximately NIS 2 million ($600 million) per year.
