Residents of the Jewish neighborhoods of Maale HaZeitim and the adjacent Maalot David have expressed outrage that Jerusalem police and security officials have not taken steps to protect them, failing to send a patrol car or place any security personnel at the scene, a single location from which attacks have occurred daily, damaging private property and contributing to a sense of danger in the region.

One of the most fundamental jobs of government is to protect its citizens from criminal behavior. Apparently, the Mayor of Jerusalem forgot that basic but important obligation. With that said, in America, if someone breaks into your home and tries to steal property or do harm to those living in the household, you are allowed to use firearms. The difference in this situation is the people dwelling in the house are taken by surprise and have no prior knowledge of the intrusion. This is not the case with rock throwers in Jerusalem. The residents informed the police several times and they got no answer or protection. Here is my suggestion, the people should get tazer guns and inform the rock throwers if they continue throwing rocks, they will receive an electrical shock that will render them unconscious. I would suspect after getting a few zaps of high intensity electricity, they may have second thoughts in continuing to cause problems. But, the residents have a right to be angry that the city has failed in their request to step in and apprehend these pigs. As unpleasant as it may be, the community will have to handle the situation on their own. By the way, the people should keep this incident in mind when the elections roll around.
The whole situation in Israel and the neighboring countries is nearing ridiculous. Its quite sad that religious hate for another society leads to stupidity in the region.
