Los Angeles County Commissioner Howard Winkler was unanimously reappointed by the L. A. County Board of Supervisors to the Los Angeles County Commission on Alcohol & Other Drugs (CCAOD) for a term that extends to the end of 2014. Winkler has served on the related Law and Legislative Committee and the Drug Court Planning Committee for the past 25 years.
The CCAOD advises the Board of Supervisors on drug- and alcohol-related issues, with the goal of reducing drug- and alcohol-related criminal activity and the negative impact these vices have on the quality of life in the county. The commission cooperates closely with the district attorney, Probation Department, public defender and sheriff.
