I usually don’t recommend videos on Youtube, because there’s so much trash posted on the side of Youtube pages, and I don’t want to cause someone to see something he shouldn’t see, and thus transgress the prohibition of putting a stumbling block before a blind man, but this is something you just have to watch. In the parasha for this week, Vayigash (Gen 46:4), the Torah actually uses a double wording literally saying, “I will bring you up, also bringing up” (ואנכי אעלך גם עלה). G-d was saying, “I will bring you out of this exile and I will also bring your children out of future exiles.” (Rashi; Yafeh Toar, P. 511) (Me’Am Lo’Ez, Vol 3b p.467) This “bringing us out of exile" is before our very eyes today.
Correction: Vayigash is next week's parasha and Miketz is for this week. In Miketz, Gen 42:2, “[Jacob] said, I have heard that there are provisions in Egypt. Go down there and supply us from there. Let us live and not die.” The word “redu” (רדו) ‘go down’ leaving Israel to another land whereas “Oley” (עלה) ‘go up’ coming to Israel. There is another meaning to this word ‘redu’. It has a special significance for its numerical value is 210. Jacob was indicating that from the time that he emigrated to Egypt until the Exodus there would be 210 years. G-d’s promise to Abraham at the Pact between Halves would thus be fulfilled. (Yafeh Toar p. 492) True, G-d told Abraham that exile would be 400 years (15:13) which began with Isaac’s birth. Isaac was 60 years old when Jacob was born and Jacob was 130 when he went to Egypt making a total of 190 years and a balance of 210 years in exile.
