Shame on those Germans who would ban circumcision. Shame on those Germans who do not care enough to rise up in anger against the pseudo-scientific bigots who falsely claim to be interested in the sensitivities of children. Praise for those Germans who do stand against the bigotry of their countrymen.

Let other countries with cleaner hands take the lead in conducting real scientific research and in seeking to protect the rights of children and animals. The dirty hands and filthy past of Germany forever disqualifies that country from leading the effort to ban Jewish rituals. For shame!

  1. It is not right and unfair to call it antisemitic if we discuss rights of childrens that should be eternally harmed without their consent! Maybe the child would call you abusive if they could.

  2. Norm Grey says:

Isabella and all like-minded protectors of the young. Simply stated, G-d COMMANDS Jews to ritually circumcise normal, healthy boys (not girls, as they do in more unenlightened societies) ON THE EIGHTH DAY…or as soon after the child is deemed healthy by ritually and medically trained professionals.
If you don't believe in G-d, I can understand your belief that adults must "protect" helpless babies. But please rest assured, we who do believe in G-d KNOW that He KNOWS what He's doing.

    • There is a fundamental right for children to safety and freedom from bodily harm. Michael Wolffsohn, a german historian with jewish background is not of the same opinion as you are. As the german newspaper "Die Welt" has reported the circumcision is the symbol for an original human sacrifice. As a Christian I have – of course – read the stories of Abraham and his son. (Beside that – jews and muslims are not clear about which son should have been sacrificed). This point of view of circumcision as a "pars-pro-toto" for human sacrifice was really new to me.
And what we all should respect is that children rights of their owns and are no more longer the proberty of their parents. The change through circumcision cannot be altered later and this without the consent of the person involved.

Following the Boston Marathon bombing, one crucial point will likely remain overlooked. The most loathsome aspect of this or any other terror bombing attack on civilians will always lie in the inexpressibility of physical pain. While all decent people will abhor the idea of bombs expressly directed at the innocent, whether here or in other countries, none will ever be able to process the very deepest horrors of what has been inflicted.

It’s only natural to see increasing evidence of Jerusalem’s glorious Jewish past being unearthed, quite literally, under modern Israeli sovereignty. The new archaeological finds are also very timely – as the Arab onslaught attempting to detach Jerusalem from its Jewish roots gains steam, the facts on the ground, or “under” the ground, show quite otherwise.

The Talmud (Berachot 26b) says, “tefillot avot tiknum” – “prayer was established by the avot.” The Talmud then uses the following verse (Bereshit 19:27) to prove how Avraham established prayer: “Vayaskem Avraham baboker el hamakom asher amad sham et pnei Hashem” – “And Avraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before God.”

In an editorial last week (“Circling the Wagons”) we noted the efforts by the administration and its supporters to dismiss allegations that the government’s spin on the Benghazi attack was designed to shield the president and that the IRS was improperly used to stifle opposition to Mr. Obama’s reelection.

As the controversies besetting the Obama administration continue to grow in number and intensity, the prospect that President Obama would seriously consider military action against Iran, should that country continue its drive to become a nuclear power, becomes more and more remote. So we welcome the current enhancement of sanctions against Iran on the federal and New York State levels.
