THE LATEST IN KOSHER FOOD: It's A Wrap!

Does this question sound familiar ? “Mom, what's for dinner?” Are you always looking for new and exciting meals to please yourself and your family? If the answer to these questions is yes, then we have the answer.

Introducing Wrapolé® ? one of the few kosher, Pas Yisrael flour tortillas. In their own words, “Ellen and Miguel stood in their local supermarket and had a half-baked idea. Literally! “Let's make a great tasting kosher flour tortilla!” After two years of experimenting in their kitchen to create the right recipe, Wrapolé® gourmet tortillas were born. Thus taking a half-baked idea, turning it into a fully baked perfection.”

So I suppose you're wondering what can you do with a wrap. The truth is just about anything. Layer raw or sautéed vegetables in a flavored wrap and fold it over. Spread your favorite cheese spread on the wrap and roll it into a long cigar shape. Top it with your favorite cheese and sauce and heat for 5 minutes for a great homemade pizza. You can find a whole selection on the Wrapolé® website www.wrapole.com.

My family tried both the tex-mex and the spinach and I was surprised at how much we all enjoyed them. Even my children, who have a tendency to be picky eaters, loved the spinach flavored ones. We used them in many of the ways I mentioned above ? but their favorite was covered with cream cheese and a light sprinkling of scallions. Rolled up as a cigar it became a great conversation piece in the school lunchroom. As a matter of fact, they are now a staple in our home.

Wrapolé® products are also available in original, whole wheat and sesame. They're parve, pas yisrael and available on-line or in your local kosher grocery. They're also available in institutional size packages.

Pick up a package today and the next time they wonder what's for dinner, you're sure to have a quick and easy answer.

Other new kosher products you might want to try:

1. Mehadrin's all new Blended Yogurts. Available in four flavors they're 80 calories, have zero fat and a very smooth and creamy texture. They're also made with Splenda and not Nutra-Sweet so they taste more like regular yogurt.

2. Tara's Soya Tzuriel Kal ? a soy pudding from Israel. Available in two flavors, they've got only 24 calories, zero fat per serving, and are parve. At this time they are not available in all kosher groceries, but they're worth asking for.

Yes, the search for the perfect snack continues. This week's features are for lovers of potato chips and chocolate. Cookie lovers, be patient.

As the search for the perfect snack continues, this week we review treats from two different companies with ingredient in common: cheese.

Cheese itself happens to be a great snack. It comes in a wide variety of colors, flavors and sizes and can be eaten alone or with bread and fruit. However, when you add some basic ingredients like bread and sauce, it becomes part of a wonderful treat.

In my house, the search for the perfect snack is of utmost importance. In fact, I probably spend more time in the snack aisle then I do searching for the perfect cut of meat.
