Police in Brussels arrested two individuals suspected of planning terror attacks on New Year’s Eve. The suspects were detained following raids in different parts of Belgium these past Sunday and Monday. According to prosecutors, police found ISIS propaganda material and military clothing at the raid sites.

The arrest follows warnings of terror attacks across Europe on New Year’s Eve. London is on high alert, as authorities fear Islamist terrorists have been planning a strike for Thursday. Like the British capital, several major European cities have been on guard after a friendly intelligence service has reportedly warned of an attack, either by gunmen or bombers during the new year’s festivities.

President Putin’s government warned Russians to stay home on New Year’s Eve if they wish to be safe.

Austrian Police have asked people for their understanding as they increase security controls. “Several possible names of potential attackers were mentioned, which were checked, and the investigation based on [these checks] has so far yielded no concrete results,” Vienna police said in a statement. “In the days before Christmas a warning was sent out by a friendly [intelligence] service to numerous European capitals, saying that it could come to an attack involving explosives or a shooting between Christmas and the New Year in crowded spaces.”
