Yes, Jonathan Pollard Again
Whatever you think about Jonathan Pollard, there are some basic facts of the case that cannot be ignored. Chief among them are:
- Jonathan Pollard has served longer for the crime he was sentenced for than anyone else convicted of like crimes.
- The United States of America made – and broke – a plea bargain agreement they made with Jonathan Pollard.
- Jonathan Pollard has no interest in remaining in America. Were he to be freed, he would come to Israel, never to return or hurt the United States.
And one last point – what Jonathan Pollard gave to Israel should have been given to Israel under agreements made between the U.S. and Israel.
With all of that, I’ll say one more thing. I don’t want Obama to come to Israel. We don’t need his pressure, we don’t need the traffic headaches, and we honestly don’t need his opinions. But if he is to come, let him at least, at very least, bring Jonathan home to Israel.
What Jonathan Pollard did – almost THIRTY YEARS AGO – was wrong. The US was wrong and perhaps Israel was wrong – but it has been Jonathan Pollard who has paid the price, far and above what should have been demanded. It is time, past time, to end this farce.
Obama, don’t come…or at least have the decency to bring Jonathan Pollard home.

"Jonathan Pollard has served longer for the crime he was sentenced for than anyone else convicted of like crimes."
That is a lie. John Walker has been serving a life sentence that began six months earlier than Pollard, and Walker's associate Jerry Whitworth is serving a 365 year sentence. Aldrich Ames and Robert Hanssen are also serving life sentences. And Julius and Ethel Rosenberg got the death penalty.
"The United States of America made – and broke – a plea bargain agreement they made with Jonathan Pollard."
Also a lie. Pollard and his then-wife broke it by giving interviews to the press in violation of the terms of the plea agreement.
"Jonathan Pollard has no interest in remaining in America. Were he to be freed, he would come to Israel, never to return or hurt the United States."
That is not necessarily true. It is quite possible that when he is released — and he is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2015 — his travel will be restricted, as is common with parolees.
I like the way you say it – don't come or come with Jonathan Pollard. Unfortunately, Obama is too much of a mouse to do anything controversial. He won't even pardon PFC Bradley Manning, who helped WikiLeaks expose the dirty dealings of the U.S. government. Compare him to George Bush who commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby to zero time served for outing CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson.

"President Obama is coming to Israel this Wednesday. Remember! Barack Obama’s top ten insults against Israel – http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/nilegardiner/100036389/barack-obama’s-top-ten-insults-against-israel/ And now he refuses to release Pollard. What an arrogance! So how are we to respond? Here is one suggestion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7RlIuywN5WQ".
