MK Uri Ariel was selected for the lead spot in the Tekuma party, making him the new chairman of the National Union, replacing MK Ya’akov Katz.
The Tekuma party was the last remaining party of the National Union, after MK Aryeh Eldad and firebrand MK Michael Ben Ari deserted the party due to its merger agreement with the Jewish Home party.
Eldad and Ben Ari complained that they were being forced out by being placed at unrealistic spots on the list in a deal that Katz had brokered.
The two left and formed a new party “Otzma L’Yisrael” (Strength to Israel).
Ariel has repeatedly said that he wants the two to return to the National Union.
Following Ariel, Tekuma/National Union’s list is as follows: former Rabbinical court judge Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan, Zevulon Kalpa, Orit Strook, Hillel Horowitz, and General-Director of the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, Nachi Eyal.
The highest number of seats polls show the joint Jewish Home-National Union list is 13, making any further spots on the Tekuma list unrealistic, especially if Eldad and Ben Ari were to return and push other candidates further down.

Once upon a time journalists covered the news. Now journalists are the front lines for terrorists can shoot at Israeli soldiers before journalists shoot the pictures, but who gets the credits?
The Rome Jewish community leadership gave a rousing send-off to journalist and former Italian parliament member Fiamma Nirenstein ahead of her departure for Israel on aliyah Sunday. She will live in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo. Born in Florence, Nirenstein was elected to Parliament in April 2008 as a member of the center-right People of [...]
Israeli Finance Minister Yair Lapid will grant nearly $14 million in aid to Ariel University. The money, which was pledged by the previous finance minister, Yuval Steinitz, will be transferred in two stages, Haaretz reported Sunday. Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein earlier this year blocked the transfer of the money, which had been approved during the [...]

A bus was attacked by Arab stone throwers on Sunday afternoon near the Beitar (el Hadr) Junction on Route 60, just north of Efrat. On Friday, residents of Efrat protested the escalating terrorist attacks on the roads, and in that section of the road in particular.
An unstable enemy country is often worse than a known foe. Syrian rebel rocket attacks on Hezbollah areas in Beirut leave Israel with a powder keg from the Golan Heights to the Mediterranean Sea.
For the second time in just over a week, Arabs have poured oil on the main road connecting Highway 60 to Beitar (near Efrat), in the middle of the night. A little over a week ago, Arabs poured oil on the same road causing a car to spin out of control and crash. The fire [...]
The officer said that the road is not being built because we are afraid, but because the IDF is unable to contain the attacks.

On Friday I described the reactions I’ve witnessed of babies tasting ice cream for the first time. Their eyes light up and it’s as if they are reassessing all the possibilities presented by the planet where they’ve just landed. For comparison, here’s a Russian girl tasting her first falafel. Do you see the light in [...]
“Syria is the backbone of the resistance and we will not sit with our hands crossed.”
A bid by the Israeli government to legalize four Judea and Samaria settlement outposts is neither “appropriate” nor “constructive” but should not prevent the resumption of peace talks, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said. “Our position on settlements and outposts and on the legalization is that we are opposed to it,” Kerry said Friday [...]

Congratulations, JStreet, you won before you even started! Perhaps you can save your breath, energy and George Soros’ and god knows who else’s money and go home.

In the version of events provided by Argo, it wasn’t radical Islamists who stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran, but the Iranian people as a whole.
Not exactly what Jewish Home voters thought they would get on election day.
The institution of party primaries in Israel needs to be expanded not shrunk, so that the government will be under the supervision of the people from which it derives power and the moral authority to govern.
Ayalon’s new position on the Palestinian statehood doesn’t quite match his prior criticism of the Palestinian’s bid for statehood at the UN.
East Jerusalem has become code for: where Jews shouldn’t be.
Israeli willingness to do whatever it takes to prevent weapons of mass destruction from falling into the wrong hands may be the only thing preventing civil wars or heated rhetoric from becoming mass atrocities.
